First World Problems

By Lee Nelson

First World Problems

We can ask what war is good for

but if anyone knows

we do.

We've stepped over so many bodies

and lost so many souls

and will again.

It's the marrow of our virgin "peace."

It's the tobacco in Walt Cleaver's pipe.

It's the V of a hippie's fingers.

It's the televangelist in

The Oval Office.

It's the mushroom clouds

in the eyes of the "woke."

Don't fool yourself.

Look at the ground at your feet.

You live here.

You know.

"It's God."

"It's gas."

Sure it is.

It's power.

And what does 222 years of war

have to do with freedom?

"Follow the money

Patriot."
